Guide to TSC2

Written by: graeme and Nicx

How do you download things and put them in my game?

If you go to Sim File Maid 2 you can download a simple program which really helps you to install custom content! All you have to do is open File Maid then drag and drop your zip files onto it. Easy as that!!!

Why should I sign up?

You are under no obligation to sign up for an account here at TSC2 but there are many advantages of doing so:

  • You can comment on downloads. If you like one, or don’t let us know about it!
  • You can post on the miniboard and talk to other members.
  • You can upload your own creations, anything from clothes to lots!

How do I upload my own creations?

After signing up for an account you need to go to “user home” before clicking on “add content.” There are 3 parts to an upload; describing your creation, getting the files up and confirming the upload.

Part 1: Describing your creation.

This part is very important. You must make sure you choose a suitable name and choose the best category for your download. This will mean people will be able to find your download more easily. The description box must be used for giving credit to any custom mesh that you used that wasn’t yours and also providing a link so that people can go download the mesh. It would also be very helpful to tick any expansion packs you have used to create your file. If you wish to submit it to a current competition there is a box to do this.

Part 2: Getting the files up

You need to upload 3 files to TSC2; a zip file with your download in it, a thumbnail (a small picture of your download only 80x80pixels) and a full image (suggested size 500x500pixels). Once you have selected these files from your computer click “add content” and an “uploading” bar should appear.

Part 3: Confirmation

It should now tell you if your file has uploaded properly. Now you are finished and all you need to wait for is a moderator to pass your file as suitable for download!

What am I allowed to upload?

Anything you have created whether that’s clothes, genetics, cosmetics, objects, walls, floors, meshes or lots. You must only upload creations that you have made yourself or using meshes from sites that do not mind you using them. You must first and foremost adhere to their rules of upload and must give them credit in your upload. If you have clearly used a custom mesh but there is no mention that a custom mesh has been used and no link to the creator’s site your creation will be removed.

Why isn’t my creation showing?

When you upload your creation a moderator has to first check it to make sure that it adheres to our rules and that the file works on our computer. This may take up to a couple of days depending on the queue of items and number of moderators online. Once the moderator has checked the download they will either pass or fail it. If it is passed it will then show as a download in the appropriate category (that you have already selected). If it is failed then there may be something you need to change before it will be allowed to be posted. Here are some reasons why an upload might fail:

  • File incomplete- if the zip file doesn’t work.
  • If the image is of too poor a quality.
  • If the creation is offensive or adult in material.
  • If you have used a mesh and not given a mention of the original creator or link in your description.
